Application management
The Tracking Server supports multiple applications in one installation and every application can be managed separately.
Getting started
Click on Search and Manage on the Applications tab to manage existing applications. You can sort the application list by clicking a column header that is underlined.
You can enter any free text search terms in the search field to narrow down the list of applications. When you do a search the Matches column shows the search hits for the application. You can move your mouse pointer over the hits to get more details.
Click on the application you want to work with from the application list.
Application information
Application type
The application type and URL is set when the application is created. You can not change these settings here. The following application types are available:
- VehicleTracker - A modular tracking application suitable for most tracking requirements and business users. It includes most of the Tracking Server functionality. Select this option if you are uncertain
- BuddyTracker - A Buddy tracking application suitable for community projects where end users manage their own settings
- Signup - A Special application for tracking partners used to automate the process of creating trial applications for end users
You can change the application name. Use a name that makes the application easy to identify, such as "Big Trucks Inc.", "West Coast fleet" or "Ambulance Tracker".
Description
You can change the application description. Use descriptive names and detailed descriptions to keep your server manageable if you plan to install multiple applications.
Administrator
You can add and delete administrators. You can not delete the last administrator as an application must have at least one administrator. A user can be an administrator in multiple applications.
Click on Add administrator to add a new administrator to the application. You have the following options:
- Create new Create a new administrator account
- Add existing Select an existing user as administrator for this application
Create New administrator
Select Create new and fill in the following to create a new administrator account.Username
Enter a Username for the administrator. The username should have a length of 3-15 characters. Use the characters a-z 0-9 . @
Password
Enter a Password for the administrator account
Confirm password
Please re-enter the Password for confirmation
Name
Enter the first name of the administrator
Surname
Enter the last name of the administrator
Enter the administrator e-mail address. The e-mail address is used to send alerts and other message from the Tracking Server
Click on Add to finish.
Add existing administrator
Select Add existing and search for existing users to use an existing administrator account for the application.Search
Enter a part of the administrator username in the search field and press Search to get a list of matching usernames.
Choose
Choose the administrator from the drop-down list.
Click on Add to finish.
Properties
You can set different properties for an application to control the usage. This is useful if you want others to manage the application within certain limits.
Expiry date
Check the box if you want to set a date for when the application should expire. Then select the expiry date from the drop-down lists. If you leave the box un-checked the application will never expire
User limit
Check the box and enter the number of users if you want to set a limit for the maximum number of users for the application. If you leave the box un-checked the application will have no user limit. Note that the server license limits the total number of users in all applications
Log out URL
Check the box and enter a URL if you want to re-direct users to a specific URL when they logout from the application. If you leave the box un-checked users will be directed to the default login page when they logout.

Privileges and Roles
You can enable and disable different features for an application to control the functionality available to an application.
Enable / Disable features
A feature is activated by checking the box next to it.
Note: Specific user roles in an application are defined by the application administrator in the application itself. These settings define if a feature is enabled at all for an application.
Reset
You can reset the default settings for an application by clicking the Reset button. This is available as an escape if you get lost in your privilige management process and want to start from scratch.
